My Room (exploRUG v3)

My Room is a feature that lets you lay rugs on the floor of any room photo, underneath the furniture.

Please refer to the old tutorial here if you are using exploRUG v2.

 

Accessing My Room

In exploRUG, go to the Visualizations tab on the left panel and scroll down to 'My Room' and select it. Here you can choose to take a photo, upload an image of your own room or view it live in your room using our AR Carpet App.

 

 

Taking a photo

 

Select the 'Take a picture of the room' option and allow the page to use the camera on your device.

Tablets or smart phones are recommended for taking photos.

If you are having issues accessing the back camera on your iOS device, please refer this guide.

 

 

You can also use the Camera button to take a photo or upload an image from inside My Room :

 

 

Our AI will work its magic to separate the floor and the furniture on your image and lay the rug on the floor.

 

Uploading a room photo

 

After you open up My Room, select 'Load room from storage' and select a room image you'd like to use. Make sure your room images are at least 1000 pixels in width or height for decent results.

 

 

Adjusting the rug

 

You can click and drag the rug around on the floor : 

 

 

 

Dragging over the ellipse shown on the rug will rotate the rug around its center, you can also use the quick tools on the bottom left :

 

 

 

 

Make the rug larger or smaller using the buttons on the bottom left :

 

 

 

Manual Adjustments

 

Choose the 'Mark Floor or Furniture' tool

 

 

 

If the rug overlaps a part of the furniture or object in your room, mark the furniture with green dots.

 

If the rug does not show on a part of the floor, mark the floor red where carpet should be shown.

 

 

Adjusting floor perspective

 

My Room AI calculates an imaginary 3D floor to be as close to the floor on the image uploaded. You can make adjustments to it by using the Adjust floor tool:

 

 

 

You can adjust the height of the floor by clicking the increase or decrease height buttons.

 

 

 

You can tilt the floor angle using the Eye buttons in the quick tools. Or you can click on the rug and drag up or down.

 

 

 

 

 

If you would like to view other rugs in the same room, just choose a different design from the Designs tab on the left panel.

 

 

Downloading image

Save the view you see as an image by using the Save Image button near the top of the right panel

 

 

 

Resetting changes

Reset feature will soon be added to My Room in exploRUG v3.

 

Troubleshooting for Safari browser in iOS:

If you are having issues with 'Open Camera' showing only your front camera, try disabling 'Request Desktop Website' in your Safari browser settings. To do so, go to Settings -> Safari in your mobile device. Under 'Settings for Websites', go to 'Request Desktop Website' and make sure that this option is set to off.

For iOS 13 and above, tap on the 'AA' icon on the navigation bar at the top. From here, tap on 'Request Mobile Website' to open the mobile version of the website. 

This should enable the back camera of your device.

 

Viewing the rug live in your room using AR

 

Scan the QR code shown in the page using the AR Carpet app on your phone. Please note that the QR code is linked to the selected rug - you will need to select the rug you want to see in your room before scanning the QR code.

If you do not have the app installed, you can install the app by scanning the same QR code using a QR code reading app.

 

Once you are in the app, the in-app instructions will guide you through the process of viewing the selected rug in your own room.

 

 

You can then place and view the rug in your room live from any angle you'd like.
